EuroChile and Balearic Islands institutions promote alliances:

European ICT applied to tourism meet Chilean SMEs

Technology centers and Balearic Islands companies met with the EuroChile Business Foundation to analyze possibilities of cooperation and to promote alliances between companies in Chile and the Balearic Islands in the field of information technology and communication applied to tourism.

 

The mission is composed of representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca, the IBIT Foundation; BITEL, Telematic Innovation of the Government of the Balearic Islands and the ICT Tourism Cluster, turisTEC, which comprises 60 companies involved in technology solutions for the tourism sector.

 

With 50 years of experience as a tourist destination, the Balearic Islands attract 13 million tourists annually from all over the world and are specialized in developing new technologies that promote their tourism industry competitiveness, which represents 75% of its GDP.

 

For this reason, EuroChile organized a business round between tourism entrepreneurs of the Balearic Island participating in the mission and Chilean SMEs of the hotel, transport, restaurant, agencies and operators sectors.

 

In total, 105 meetings were held between the 30 companies participating, which they evaluated positively.

 

Besides, soon there will be organized a business mission to the Islands, in the framework of a project to support ICT which is co-funded by InnovaChile Corfo and organized through the European Commission´s Enterprise Europe Network, with EuroChile as the only Latin American member.

 

In the mean time, the ICT Tourism Cluster, turisTEC, comprises 60 companies dedicated to the production and implementation of technology solutions for the tourism sector as software to measure, touristic products and services reservation centrals, document and administration management, e-marketing, energy management and telecommunication solutions.

 

According to data of the IBIT Foundation, hotel management software produced in the Balearics Islands and implemented in countries like Italy, Portugal, Germany, the United States, Mexico, Argentina and Bulgaria, manages millions of beds around the world through web portals. 3.000 establishments of complementary offer additionally, 20 international airlines and 20 international airports.

 

The mission is supported by the TODOCHILE Corfo program.
